District names two new assistant superintendents of Learning Services
The Walled Lake Consolidated Schools’ Board of Education appointed Michelle Kalhorn and Abbie Kidder the new assistant superintendents of Learning Services during its special meeting on July 13, 2026.

Kalhorn will serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Secondary Learning Services. Kalhorn has been with the district since 2015 and has more than a decade of leadership experience. She comes to central office from Walled Lake Northern, where she served as an assistant principal for the past two years. Prior to that, Kalhorn spent six years as the principal at Sarah G. Banks Middle School, served as an assistant principal at Walled Lake Central, and held both assistant principal and dean of students roles at Milford High School.
"I believe that every student has the ability to learn, grow and thrive when provided with meaningful opportunities in a supportive environment," said Kalhorn. "As I transition into this new role, I remain committed to ensuring that the staff and students of Walled Lake Consolidated Schools have the tools, resources, support and opportunities they need to succeed."

Kidder will serve as the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Learning Services. Kidder has been with the district since 2018, most recently as the executive manager of Human Resources for the past two years. Prior to that, she was Loon Lake Elementary’s principal for six years and came to Walled Lake Consolidated School after three years as the assistant principal at Grant Upper Elementary in Livonia Public Schools.
“I believe that the best schools are built on strong relationships, high expectations and a shared commitment to doing what's best for kids,” said Kidder. “I can't wait to work alongside our students, staff and families as we continue to support great teaching and create opportunities for every child to learn, grow and succeed.”
“We are excited to welcome Michelle Kalhorn and Abbie Kidder into these important leadership roles serving the students, staff and families of Walled Lake Consolidated Schools,” said Dr. Michael Lonze, Superintendent of Schools. "Mrs. Kalhorn and Mrs. Kidder are both highly respected leaders who bring a wealth of experience, a deep understanding of our district and a commitment to student success. Their collaborative leadership, instructional expertise and passion for supporting our schools will continue to build on the strong tradition of excellence that defines Walled Lake Consolidated Schools.”
